Immigration detention in Australia

We treat all people in detention with respect, dignity and fairness. While in an immigration detention facility, we provide appropriate food, medical, recreational and other support services, including mental health services.

If you want to give a gift to a detainee first check what items we allow visitors to bring to a facility.

If you want to post a gift to an immigration detention facility include:

  • the name of the person the gift is for
  • your name
  • your address

All mail, including gifts may be subject to security screening. Controlled or excluded items will be held in trust for detainees.
