For depots

Depots are places licensed by the Australian Border Force and used by importers to hold goods that must be moved away from the wharf or airport but have not yet been cleared for home consumption.

These goods may be held in a depot for short-term storage and unpacking or for deconsolidation.

Import requirements

Depots are for short-term storage only. Goods subject to customs control may be stored in a licensed depot until the end of the month, after the month the goods arrived at the depot. The depot might seek an extension under section 77P of the Customs Act to hold the goods for a further month, but this will be at the discretion of the ABF.
