Military personnel who depart Australia as a passenger on military transport may claim a TRS refund of the Goods Services Tax (GST) and Wine Equalisation Tax (WET). We pay this on eligible purchases you make within Australia.
On your departure day, you must present the following items to an ABF officer:
- passport and/or military ID
- proof of travel (for example, boarding pass or military orders)
- original tax invoice(s)
- goods you are claiming a TRS refund for.
Note that if your aircraft is departing away from an international terminal, ABF must be attending the clearance for you to make a claim.
Operating air or sea crew are not able to make a TRS claim.
