Securities can also be used for the temporary importation of goods provided the goods meet the eligibility requirements that are defined in the specific legislation being utilised. Permission to temporarily import goods under security may be granted under either Section 162 or Section 162A of the Customs Act 1901 (the Act).
Certain other goods that are eligible for an import concession under a by-law, or are subject to interim dumping duty, must also be imported under security under Section 42 of the Act.
