CUSCAR - Sea Cargo Establishment Query (SEQ) - Process Flow
Description of the EDI Model
This EDI model has been determined the most effective and expedient solution in relation to the requirements for IAG194. Current ICS functionality (e.g. CARST engine) is not technically viable, due to message volume increases, ICS performance and complexity of status processing rules.
This new process model allows Industry to retrieve cargo reporting information ad-hoc with a simple “Query” transaction. An advantage with this model is the dynamic business processing, which can occur to gain EDI visibility for cargo destined to a client’s establishment.
Process Flow
There will be three new messages developed to meet the EDI solution.
These messages will be:
SEQ This message is a Sea Cargo Establishment Query. It will be initiated by Industry for the purposes of Cargo Report information destined for their establishment. If all validation of the SEQ is accepted a SEI (Sea Cargo Establishment Information) transaction will be generated and transmitted to the message owner.
SEQR This message is a Sea Cargo Establishment Query Response. This message will be generated and transmitted, if any business validations have caused a transaction rejection or any advices, such as no records found with query criteria. It should be noted that an SEQR will result in non creation of an SEI message.
SEI This message is a Sea Cargo Establishment Information message, and will be generated with the specified Cargo Reporting Information, based on the selection criteria.
