Skills in Demand and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa sponsorship
As a Trusted Trader, you can enjoy streamlined access to becoming an accredited sponsor for the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494).
The Skills in Demand visa (SID) can help you address labour shortages by bringing in genuinely skilled workers where you cannot find an appropriately skilled Australian. SID visa holders can work here for up to 4 years. This depends on their nominated occupation, visa stream and circumstances.
The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (SESR) enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. SESR visa holders can work here for up to 5 years.
Apply for sponsorship accreditation
When you apply to become a business sponsor or are renewing a sponsorship, answer 'Yes' when asked if you wish to become an accredited sponsor. The processing office will automatically match your Trusted Trader status to the application and assess you against streamlined criteria. You will not have to wait the standard minimum 12 month period. If you qualify for accredited status, your SID and SESR nominations and visa applications will receive priority processing. Most applications are processed in less than 5 days.
