Australian and Non-citizens

You may be able to use arrivals SmartGates if you:

• have an ePassport symbol on your passport
• are at least 1.1m tall
• are at least seven years of age and travelling with a parent or legal guardian.

You cannot use Arrivals SmartGates if you are:

• a domestic traveller on an international flight
• an unaccompanied child under 16 years of age.
  
  

New Zealand Airline Crew

Eligible airline crew may process through SmartGates. 

New Zealand crew wishing to activate their Special Category Visa (TY-444) must:

• use the manual processing point
• present an Incoming Passenger Card (IPC)
• present a valid New Zealand passport.​

You may self-declare your yellow fever vaccination status at SmartGate if you:

• have received a yellow fever vaccination more than ten days before your travel
• can produce your valid vaccination certificate to Border officials
• can answer the questions at the SmartGate kiosk.

Arrivals accessible Kiosks and all SmartGates may accommodate self-propelled wheelchairs. If you require a companion to push the wheelchair, go to the Airline Assisted manual border control desk for assistance.

If you are travelling with children over 7 years and you are their parent or guardian, you may be able to use arrival SmartGates.

A child travelling with 2 or more parents or guardians should be processed as follows:

1. parent or guardian one
2. child
3. parent or guardian two
