Visit multiple detainees
Visitors are generally permitted to visit 1 detainee per visit. We can consider exceptions in limited circumstances, for example where:
- a visitor seeks to visit a family group
- legal or migration professionals are representing multiple detainees on the same matter
Family members and professional visitors may apply as normal using the paper or online application process.
Volunteers, community groups and advocacy groups, including school groups who intend to visit multiple detainees must complete the
Visiting Multiple Detainees request form and email it to the relevant
immigration detention facility.
Approval to visit multiple detainees is at the discretion of the immigration detention facility. If approved, each adult visitor must then make a separate application for each detainee they are seeking to visit. Applications must be made online. Each applicant must attach the approved visiting multiple detainees form to each application.
Community Support Sector Visitor Programme Pilot
The ABF is currently piloting the Community Support Sector Visitor Programme (CSSVP). Current registered CSSVP Pilot groups must nominate all attending visitors and detainees for each scheduled session, three (3) business days prior to the visit taking place, by completing and emailing the
Community Sector Support Visitor Programme visit form to the relevant
immigration detention facility. A CSSVP visit form is required for each visits area the group intends to visit.
Current groups wishing to nominate new member/s to the CSSVP programme should email
email@example.com for further information.
You can bring
certain food for visitors. Seek approval from the immigration detention facility before your visit. Complete the
Immigration Detention Facility Special Purpose Food and/or Medication request form and email it with your CSSVP visit form.
